Pansy Napangardi was born at Haasts Bluff in the late 40’s.  She never went to school as she would always run away to go swimming and be with the horses on the Haasts Bluff Mission instead.  In 1960 Pansy lived at Papunya and observed many artists painting. She is a major painter in what is today known as the Papunya Tula movement. She is from the Warlpiri language group. during the 1980s she became the pre-eminent woman painter at Papunya Tula, winning the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award (NATSIAA) in 1989. She is associated with the Jukurrpa group of women artists in Alice Springs where she lives today.
